Almonds are one of the most nutritious of all nuts. There are lots of good things about these nuts that you can keep going on and on. They are low in saturated fats, a good source of Vitamin E, contain more magnesium than oatmeal or even spinach, a good source of calcium and hence recommended to women for osteoporosis etc. Wat did I say, the list is endless.
During the initial days of my pregnancy, many asked me to increase my intake of nuts and when googled most of the sites recommended to have 5-6 badams / almonds every day. When I consulted on this with my doctor, even she suggested the same. If you're pregnant, almonds are a great source of the folic acid you need! Ever since I make it a point to grab some almonds every morning till date.
With the increasing temperatures in Chennai, yes.. its shivering cold in the early hours and slowly the sun creeps in and by mid-day its sweating hot. I am always making chilled evening drinks to cool myself and the family. So made some cool almond milk for our evening chill out time and it was a sure thirst quencher filled with wholesome goodness.
How I Made it:
Soak Saffron strands in 2 tbsp of hot milk. Soak Almond in warm water for 30 mins. Peel off the skin.
Blend the peeled almonds, saffron soaked milk, cardamom powder and sugar in a blender. Grind to a fine paste. Mix this paste to the remaining milk and stir well.
Dry roast the chironji nuts in a skillet. Mix this to the badam milk and chill.
Serve chilled.
So thats it Folks...
