I hope its self-explained from this that I am always on the look out for fresh broccoli. When I was in RF for my weekend grocery shopping, I was surprised and happy to see a dozen of fresh broccoli peeping out. Ran to grab some and ended up with 2 lusciously green broccolis sitting proudly in my grocery bag. Was happy with what I got and decided immediately on what I would make with them. One for my broccoli stir fry and one for my broccoli salad. So here's my recipe for broccoli stir fry... Simple yet healthy and an easy LBR...

~*What U Need*~
Broccoli florets - 2 cup
Large Onion - 1
Chopped ginger - 1 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt to taste
Large Onion - 1
Chopped ginger - 1 tsp
Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
Chilly powder - 1/2 tsp
Mustard seeds - 1/2 tsp
Curry leaves - 1 sprig
Oil - 2 tsp
Salt to taste
How I Made It
Clean the broccoli well. Sprinkle few drops of water and microwave the broccoli in high for two minutes till it is crisp tender. Heat oil in a pan and add the mustard seeds
When the mustard seeds have spluttered, add ginger and curry leaves and saute for some minute
Add onions and sauté till brown. Add chilly powder and cumin powder and a pinch of salt. Combine well
Add the broccoli florets and toss till well coated, say 1 minute. Off the flame.
Serve hot with rice!!! I served it with paruppu saadam and the combination was good...
Notes:
If you don’t have a microwave, steam the broccoli florets in water till half - cooked.
Note: Studies say that Broccoli is more beneficial when eaten raw... So try preparing fresh salads out of them. I prefer having them in salads than stir fry...
