I first got to taste this at my grandma's home when I was a kid. I had gone there for the village festival and all kids and relatives where chit-chatting by the side of our Neem tree when my grandmom came out from the kitchen with a large pot full of this coffee and a plate full of Kaimurukkus for our evening snack (BTW, she makes so very yummy murukkus).
Everyone asked me to sip a mouthful of coffee and take a bite of murukku. I did so and I would say it was one tasty experience... Then my aunt came by and suggested to break the murukku into pieces and drop it into the coffee. Allow it to soak for 5 - 10 mins and then drink... I did so and had a gulp.. Wow it was delicious. From then till now this has been my favorite coffee and I just love the combination WITH MURUKKUS...
My MIL had given me a packet of store bought murukkus and I had no other option but to make this...
Ginger - 1/2 " piece
Cardamom - 1
Karuppatti / Palm Jaggery - as per taste
Instant Coffee powder - 2 tsps
Water - 2 cups
KaiMurukku - 3
Cardamom - 1
Karuppatti / Palm Jaggery - as per taste
Instant Coffee powder - 2 tsps
Water - 2 cups

How I Made It
Crush the ginger slightly just to release the juices. Break open the cardamom and crush it once.
Break the palm jaggery into pieces. Heat the 2 cups water in a bowl. Add the crushed palm jaggery, ginger and cardamom
Boil till it dissolves the jaggery dissolves completely.
When dissolved, pass the mixture through a stainer to remove the impurities from the jaggery. Immediately add the coffee powder and mix well. You can have this hot hot flavored coffee as such!!! Or else read on to know more...
Break the murukku into bite sized pieces. Drop into the coffee. Allow to soak for 5 mins and then drink, munch, eat and drink.
