I love baking but more than that I have started loving food styling (pardon me to call this food styling) or shall I say putting stuff together and taking some decent photographs. And the soul reason is pappu. Rather than taking serious photographs, we end up playing and laughing our hearts out. Let me give you a gist of how it goes, I we start baking at around 4 which is kinda a fun activity for us and then the next day when the sun is out we spread everything out, arranging, him re-arranging, me arranging it again and then he stands by the side holding the reflector while I take few shots. Isn't he the sweetest thing!!! I am totally falling in love with this guy...
This little guy is one curious beast. Anything and everything needs to be examined and that is what he is doing in this pic. And the look he gives when he examines stuff is priceless. Okay let me stop here and lets talk about banana rolls. If you have a banana that has gone black, mushy and ripened, then stop whatever you are doing and go make these rolls... Cos they are soft, fluffy and totally addictive. Serve them with some chai latte and you will thank yourselves for making this. So why wait lets move on to the recipe.
Serve warm with some jam or as desired.
** My Notes:
** You can make these as a bread too.
** I used 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour.
** I used ghee.
** The dough will be sticky but donot be tempted to add more flour.
So thats it Folks...
With Love,
Signs off!!!

~*What U Need*~ All purpose flour - 1 1/2 cups + more Water, lukewarm - 1/2 cup Active Dry yeast - 3/4 tsp Brown Sugar - 2 tbsp Butter/Ghee - 1 tbsp,at room temperature Ripe banana - 1/2 cup, pureed Cardamom powder - 1/4 tsp(optional) Flour - extra for dusting Melted butter - for brushing on the rolls How I Made it: Activate your yeast with lukewarm water and sugar. Set aside for 10 mins till nice and frothy. Mash the bananas with a fork. In a food processor, add the yeast mixture, flour, butter, mashed banana, cardamom powder and pulse till a dough forms. Knead for another 1 min and then remove to a well oiled bowl and allow to rise for 1 hour or till double. Once doubled, punch down the dough and knead for 2 mins in a lightly floured surface. The dough will be sticky but donot be tempted to add more flour. Divide into 7-8 balls, arrange in a cake tin and allow to rise for another half an hour. Bake in a preheated oven at 180C for 35 to 40 minutes till done and golden brown. Remove and brush with melted butter as soon as they come out of the oven. Cool the rolls in the pan for about 5 minutes and then cool completely on a rack. |
